Which plants are best in the kitchen?

2 minute read

We love seeing lots of greenery in the kitchen. They’re pretty, clean the air & can boost our well-being by helping us to feel more connected to nature. But it can be tricky to know what to choose. So we asked an expert ~ Gemma Lewis from Wattle & Daub. Her shop is jam packed with all sorts of gorgeous greenery & was recently voted one of the loveliest independent shops to order from by Conde Nast.

We know from your shop that you love plants, so please tell us which survive best in the kitchen?

Gemma told us, My picture window is filled with plants. It’s often more about the light the room, where you place the plant and how much or how little you water it, than it is about whether they are in a kitchen or a living room. Currently on my kitchen windowsill, I have

  • Rhipsalis
  • Monstera
  • Money Plant
  • Echeveria
  • Ferns
  • Maidenhair Vine

This photo is of Gemma’s busy window ledge and it’s burtsing with happy vibes.

If you want to know more about Wattle’s Mini Garden Centre head over to the website. As well as house plants in the most lovely of pots, they have a faux and dried flower collection and they can organise fresh flowers.
