This kitchen has oodles of space, but the overall width meant that an Island didn’t feel right in the room. A great solution in this case is a preparation table.
Benefits of a prep table:
- Prep tables are an elegant addition; and they look good in many different lengths & widths (compared to Islands which tend to look best when they are big)
- They provide useful extra work surface and storage space, especially for baskets, oversized bowls or dishes you like to have easily to hand
- Prep tables naturally have a lighter look with space between the worktop and bottom shelf. It feels more delicate than a solid Island
- It’s easy to add a tea towel rail, a drawer for utensils, and castors to make it easy to move
In this example, as well as providing a handy midway spot for getting food ready to cook between the sink & Aga, this prep table also threads through the Oak and blue accents down the centre of the kitchen.
