Family & friends were at the centre of all things when considering this kitchen design. So the layout was always going to be largely open plan, with smaller spaces contained around it. The dining area in the foreground has doors that open onto the patio and beautiful gardens. With the kitchen Island in the middle, and an 'L' shape of cabinetry including the sink and range cooker run wrapping around the left-hand corner of the space. On the right-hand side there are tall glazed cupboards that lead into the most beautiful of snugs, painted in a deep red. Then behind the range run is a pantry and utility of dreams painted in a sunny yellow, with a separate study. Architectural plans by PWJ Architects.
Cupboard Details for a Custom-Made Family Kitchen in Guildford
Classic and timeless shaker style in-frame cupboards; paired with flat fronted drawers with pretty edge details.
A large central kitchen Island with a stunning Oak worktop ready for food prep and serving, a breakfast bar with comfortable stools for morning coffee, homework & pre-diner drinks. There is also plenty of storage and drawers on the dining area side for placemats, table cloths, candles and so on.
The sink, dishwasher and bins to the left-hand side are complete with bespoke panelling and artwork to make the tidy up feel more special. A sweet nook of dark stained open shelving is perfectly positioned for favourite pieces and cook books for inspiration.
A floor to ceiling cabinetry run along the back includes
- an appliance garage with bi-fold doors (to provide homes for the food mixer, soda stream, weighing scales etc).
- Lacanche range cooker and Westin extractor hood, with drawer trays either side so that oils and spices are easily accessible for the cook. The middle section is finished with a large easy to clean veined quartz splashback.
- A breakfast cupboard with bi-fold doors, housing the tea collection, coffee machine, toaster and microwave, cereals, jams and honey, all neat and out of site, but ready to go on busy mornings.
There are two glazed cupboards which frame the double doors to the snug; painted inside in Picture Gallery Red, and full to bursting with glasses ready for entertaining.
Colour Palette and Textures for a Custom-Made Family Kitchen in Guildford
Soft warm neutral (Shaded White) with stained Oak used for the open shelving, and bespoke Oak worktop on the Island. The stain was chosen carefully and specifically to compliment the flooring choice perfectly.
To layer the textures, the owner chose three ceramic Lyngard lights above the Island, combined with antique brass Armac Martin knobs and cuphandles.
