When we started Shere Kitchens, we bought with us decades of experience making all sorts of beautiful furniture and architectural joinery, with expertise in renovations, period properties and listed buildings. Arching over all the knowledge, we bought a passion for wood and crafting natural and sustainable materials.
The oak utility room cupboards featured here were custom made for Interior Stylist Belle Hadley’s own family home. The design and materials spotlight how beautiful natural wood cabinetry is and the soothing atmosphere it creates for us to live in.
There is a concept called Biophilic Design and it is at the centre of all the furniture for Belle’s house renovation project. It is about helping us to make connections with nature within our homes, in part by bringing in natural materials. Why? Because it has been proven to be good for us. We need nature to feel our best. Nature is restorative, it calms us down and has been shown to impact on our heart rate, blood pressure and stress levels. We have read that studies have also revealed the positive impact of natural materials used in schools – improving creativity and concentration. So it makes complete sense to bring natural elements into our kitchens and others spaces where we spend a great deal of time.
Natural elements used in this design include Oak, brass, terracotta, woven baskets, natural light, linens and herbs. These all work harmoniously to create the relaxed look and ambiance.
These featured cupboards are handmade in Oak, crafted individually by our cabinet makers in our workshop in Surrey. With Shaker style doors paired with brass pull handles.
