The look of the kitchen is crucial to it feeling right. Symmetry is a brilliant way to create a pretty design, but functionality needs to be considered too.
The kitchen featured in this post was custom made for the family home of Interior Stylist Belle Hadley. So practicality and style were equally important.
Belle wanted drawers either side of the range for pans, baking trays and casserole dishes. And next to the drawers she wanted cupboards for bowls, jugs, and other cook ware. To make the furniture streamlined and balanced, all the cabinetry around the cooker was made to look like drawers, but the internals of some are in fact cupboards with pull-out shelves. Our eleven-year-old daughter thinks it looks “smart and happy.” We agree :o)
